Years ago we had bulky GPS watches that we wore only when we were hiking or doing sports. They only tracked our speed, location, and elevation. With time they were made less hideous and more socially acceptable. We could go from wearing them when doing sports, to when doing nothing....

A Fitness Discussion with MyAI about Silos, Running, Cycling, and Strava — Apr 13, 2026 -
Refactoring Eleventy with Swisscom MyAI — Mar 24, 2026Yesterday afternoon I decided to experiment with MyAI and Eleventy because I was getting an error message. The issue is that when I refactored my Eleventy files with Gemini it removed code that broke the build process. I asked MyAI for help and it went beyond what I asked of it. Specifically, not only did it help me to fix the bug but it also helped me go from a build time of 35+ seconds, down to 25 seconds, and eventually down to 15 seconds. When you’re running build for each blog post that soon saves a lot of time.... -
The Iphone is coming to Switzerland — May 9, 2008According to a Le Matin article the Iphone will come to switzerland. It’s the 3g version of course so for those that have been patient this should be a fun time. I see no mention of cheaper dataplans as of yet but it’s an interesting time for those creating mobile video content. It’s also a new version of mobile web browsing....

My thoughts on the Iphone 3g — Jul 12, 2008Today I played with the Iphone 3g and was left indifferent. That’s because aside from having the same design as both the ipod touch and the 1st generation iphones it doesn’t offer anything innovative. What really interests me is the idea of more data. Last month i did quite a bit of data streaming. 100 megabytes inclusive of my current setup. I also used quite a bit of extra data. With the Iphone 3g Plan I’d get 1 gigabyte of data per month, ten times more at relatively little extra. When I can get the Natel Liberty Grande paired with the Nokia N95 then I’ll be happy. Until then I’ll feel that they could do better....

A Year to Experiment with Swisscom MyAI — Jan 24, 2026A few days ago I was looking at MyAI and I was going to unsubscribe from the “Pro” account before they charged me, before realising that as an early adopter I have a year to play with MyAI for “free”. When I say that I can play with it for free I mean that I have been a Swisscom client for decades by now, so I paid for it through years of loyal custom.... -
Switching from Swisscom To Galaxus — Apr 1, 2025This morning the transition from Swisscom to Galaxus was completed. I moved from Swisscom to Galaxus because it’s up to 50 CHF cheaper. Whereas I was paying about 70 CHF with Swisscom I now pay 19 CHF per month when I am within Switzerland, and I can pay 39 CHF per month when roaming in Europe. The one issue with this is that if I switch to roaming then it lasts for two months, not one before I can switch back.... -
Swisscom MyAI as tutor — Mar 28, 2025Yesterday I asked MyAI by Swisscom, which is still in Beta, if it could help me write a JavaScript app to generate passwords and it did, with ease. It provided me with the javascript code I needed so I could cut and paste it, and then use node to run it straight from terminal.... -
Playing with MyAI by Swisscom — Mar 27, 2025If we use Claude, Gemini, ChatGPT or a few other AI models we are using AI that has data centres in the US. If we use Le Chat by Mistral or MyAI (Beta) by Swisscom we are using AI that is based in Europe, or Switzerland. The data stays here.... -
Watching Broadcast Television — May 9, 2024Recently the bottom Swisscom TV bracket tripled in price from 5 CHF per month to 15 CHF per month. This is a huge leap in cost per month. At first I spent a few minutes to see if I could abort the Swisscom TV part of the contract but I couldn’t so I adapted....
